This is the weirdest way to run a post-racial society I've ever seen:

  "Eric Thomas, 24, told the Gazette that he was ordered by the Air Force's Office of Special Investigations—the service's version of NCIS—to 'infiltrate academy cliques, wearing recorders, setting up drug buys, tailing suspected rapists and feeding information back to OSI.' But when Thomas was brought up and charges and expelled a month shy of graduation for breaking Academy rules in the line of duty, the OSI pretended they'd never heard of him.

Despite denials by Academy and Air Force officials, the Gazette confirmed Thomas' story via three other informants and documents obtained through a FOIA request. Those documents also showed that the informant program 'appears to rely disproportionately on minority cadets like Thomas,' who is African-American."

Mind you, despite my extensive travels, I haven't seen any other post-racial societies:

So, maybe, this is just how it's done?

 

Face it - We need some kind of early warning system:

"Nobody is going to be profiling (white former quarterback) Steve Young after the game when he goes to a Mormon retreat to talk to Mormon kids. They (officers) are going to profile somebody partying at the club after the game. When you profile all those factors in, where police are likely to be looking for suspicious behavior, that's going to eliminate a number of white guys right off the shoot because they're not going to be going to those areas in those neighborhoods, looking at those kinds of activities.

…We try to let them know it's not like they're Joe Sixpack driving around at 3 o'clock in the morning. It's not that simple."

When it comes to being at home? It is "that simple":

This one's for everybody at Lem's - Trooper, Cody, Shouting Thomas, etc. - who love to deny they've hidden their sheets, while still talking that KKK shit. They know I'm just making shit up because - let's face it - we black people just love to lie on whitey:

"A suburban Detroit police officer admitted he asked a mentally ill black man to sing and dance and video recorded the incident.

Videos and photos with degrading portrayals of black men were submitted earlier this month to the blog, Motor City Muckraker, purportedly from officers who disseminated them to friends and colleagues in the upper class, majority-white Michigan suburb of Grosse Pointe Park. One video portrayed a voice alleged to be an officer asking black men to do humiliating tasks, including “dance like a chimp.” In another incident, an officer allegedly texted a photo of a black man in the back of his trailer with the text, “Gotta love the coloreds.” The journalist, Steve Neavling, told the Huffington Post that he has more than a dozen videos shot by officers, but has not shared most of them because of their “humiliating nature.”

Why not show 'em? Is a "upper class, majority-white" audience too sensitive to know the truth, of who they are, and what they contribute to and support? We are talking about "officers" - plural - making and sending these to "friends and colleagues":

 I mean, every one of us "coloreds" the overseers "shoot" eventually becomes known to blacks.

Because they've, always, been our real family and friends.

Maybe whites still don't think blacks form families (not like they do anyway) because I never understand how anybody white can miss that obvious connection.

Surviving In Numbers

“Whites Smoke Pot, but Blacks Are Arrested.” That was the headline of a column by Jim Dwyer, the great Metro desk reporter for The New York Times, in December 2009. Although Dwyer was writing about New York City, he summed up perfectly two central and enduring facts about marijuana use and arrests across the country: whites and blacks use marijuana equally, but the police do not arrest them equally. A third important fact: the vast majority (76 percent) of those arrested and charged with the crime of marijuana possession are young people in their teens and 20s.

Over the last fifteen years, police departments in the United States made 10 million arrests for marijuana possession—an average of almost 700,000 arrests a year. Police arrest blacks for marijuana possession at higher rates than whites in every state and nearly every city and county—as FBI Uniform Crime Reports and state databases indisputably show. States with the largest racial disparities arrest blacks at six times the rate of whites. This list includes Alabama, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Nevada, New York and Wisconsin. 

Big city police departments are among the worst offenders. Police in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York have arrested blacks for marijuana possession at more than seven times the rate of whites. Since 1997, New York City alone has arrested and jailed more than 600,000 people for possessing marijuana; about 87 percent of the arrests are of blacks and Latinos. For years, police in New York and Chicago have arrested more young blacks and Latinos for simple marijuana possession than for any other criminal offense whatsoever.

“How does it feel to be white?

How does it feel to move through the world without being accused, for instance, of “shopping while black”? How does it feel to know police officers are there to help you rather than surveil you? How does it feel to have the full range of your experiences represented on the big and small screen? How does it feel to be the dominant race in the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Supreme Court, almost all 50 governorships, every state legislature in the country and most cities and local governments too?

I imagine that that feels good.”

“All in all, it was a bad week of press for Los Angeles cops. One L.A. police lieutenant was arrested for soliciting a prostitute, and another officer has been temporarily relieved of duty after firing his gun in an effort to scare some kids who were bothering him.”

After she did a post, on whites adopting black kids and the importance of black culture, I wrote this on Ann's blog. I'm putting it here, slightly re-edited, because everyone needs to know it:

I don't know how many whites would explain police abuse happening to their child unless they delved into issues like racism or racial bias. Or how that child would learn to endure it, without he or she having some input from other blacks.

How anyone thinks most black children in America can survive without black culture - an understanding of it, including both it's strengths and weaknesses - is beyond me.

Two last things: 

1) Black descendants of slaves are, as far as I know, the only people on Earth with no direct line anywhere but to slavery. We are, at best, from West Africa - a quarter of a continent, not even a country. That leaves us as both deprived and unique.

So if you think it's the same as having a family from Italy, Germany, Ireland or whatever, you're mistaken. People from those places don't feel bad, when others "return to their country of origin," because they don't have one. As kids, they don't feel weird when everyone's running around screaming, "Kiss me, I'm Irish!" or celebrating Christopher Columbus, when nobody ever celebrates anybody or anything from Africa. I could go on, but the reverberations from slavery are many, and they are profound, and to think simply having a loving family (of any color or culture) can fill in the void it leaves in black lives is an ignorance of astounding magnitude. A lot of whites speak without knowledge, when it comes to the importance of black culture to black lives, and any black kid raised hearing and believing what they say is certainly destined to be damaged.

 

 2) George Carlin told you: 

 “You take 5 white guys and you take 5 black guys and put em together for a week and what you won't have is 5 blacks guys talking like, 'Golly gee, we really won that big basketball game' but you will have 5 white guys talking like 'Yo slick, whuzzup...we be shootin hoops and mad playin, slammed those mofos”

And that, my friends, shows you both the importance and strength of black culture. 

 To deprive any black child of that proud and commanding sense of identity is a crime.
